Shannon ABC has an ongoing programme to explore natural products for novel bioactive substances of value to the Healthcare, Forensic, Pharmaceutical, Food, Cosmetics, Agricultural, Environmental, Diagnostic and Bio-Energy Industries. Natural products embraces a diversity of under-explored and under-exploited materials derived from waste streams, marine, plant, animal, mammalian and microbial sources. Bioactive compounds of current interest include, but are not limited to, those displaying anti-oxidant, anti-microbial and immuno-modulatory activity.

Biological Library, Repository and Database: Shannon ABC has developed and continues on a daily basis to expand an extensive biological repository of extracts derived from wide ranging sources and processes.
